A TASTY ALTERNATIVE TO POTATO CHIPS

Andy Capp’s Hot Fries look like French fries, but crunch like chips. These delicious salty snacks pack a powerful flavor punch in every crunch. They’re the perfect alternative to regular potato snacks.

An American brand of flavoured corn and potato snacks that resemble French fries is called Andy Capp's. GoodMark Foods developed the product in 1971 after obtaining a license from Publishers-Hall Syndicate to use the name and image of the comic strip character Andy Capp. The strip appeared on the back of packaging until recently. ConAgra Foods, which still produces and distributes the product, purchased Goodmark Foods in 1998.

The following package sizes are available for Andy Capp's fries: 0.85 ounces (24 grammes), 1 ounce (28 grammes), 1.5 ounces (43 grammes), 1.75 ounces (50 grammes), 2.0 ounces (57 grammes), 3.0 ounces (85 grammes), 3.5 ounces (99 grammes), 6 ounces (170 grammes), and more recently, 8 ounces (230 grammes). There are seven flavours of the packages: These include hot fries, ranch fries, cheddar fries, barbecue fries, fire fries, and beer-battered onion rings. They're heated now, the last ones fashioned more like onion rings than fries. The first well-liked flavour in this snack food queue was hot fries. Zesty Ranch was stated as one of the flavours on the back of some of the containers, which were given to schools for snack purchases. The flavours of White Cheddar Steak Fries, Salsa, Hot Chilli Cheese Steak, and Pub Fries are no longer available.

Following their discontinuation, the BBQ Fries made a comeback in 2011 with a new bag design that matched the flavours of the Hot Fries of the time.

Fire Fries, a spicier version of Hot Fries, were first offered in November 2023.
